Top Books of 2010:

1. CITY OF GHOSTS by Stacia Kane / Urban fantasy / The rapid-release of the first three Downside Ghosts books by Stacia Kane stole my summer. Honestly, I’ve never read anything like this – urban fantasy or otherwise. The books get progressively better and more vivid. Scenes from City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts #3) still reverberate with me months after finishing the book. Review

2. THE IRON DUKE by Meljean Brook / Steampunk romance / Between the flutter-worthy love story, high seas adventure and murder mystery, The Iron Duke will have you consistently rushing to the next chapter for answers. Review

3. NIGHTSHADE by Andrea Cremer / YA paranormal / Nightshade isn’t just another werewolf book. It isn’t just another teen love story. Nightshade is about women controlling their own lives, about being free to love, about investigating truth for one’s self… and it is utterly sexy without any sex. Review

4. CRIMSON MOON by J.A. Saare / Paranormal Romance / Crimson Moon offers the No. 1 thing paranormal romance readers need: a couple whose interaction leave you with butterflies in your stomach. J.A. Saare has provided us with an irresistible example of deep, overwhelming first love. (And you get both vampires and werewolves! Huzzah!) Review

5. LAST SACRIFICE by Richelle Mead / YA paranormal / The final Vampire Academy novel gave us answers, but didn't make getting them easy. Part murder mystery, part soul-searching. Even though this book was a monster at near 600 pages, I was happy at the end. The book was a fitting closure to one of my favorite series.

Favorite Series of 2010: Downside Ghosts by Stacia Kane

Favorite Book Cover for 2010: The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff

Top Books of 2010:

1. Alien Tango by Gini Koch / Sci-Fi Romance-Comedy / The sequel to one of my favorite books of the year, Touched by an Alien, Alien Tango does the impossible and surpasses it's predecessor. Such an awesome book! Review

2. Double Cross by Carolyn Crane / Urban Fantasy / One of the most original series of the year and this sequel is unbelievable! Review

3. Lover Mine by JR Ward / Paranormal Romance / We finally get JM's story and it's brilliant! Review

4. Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs / Urban Fantasy / I love this series and this 5th installment of the series is amazing! Review

5. Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews / Urban Fantasy / I love this series and in this marvelous 4th book, we finally get Curran and ate together, what could have been better? Review

Favorite Series of 2010: The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

Top Books of 2010 (in no particular order):

1. The Unidentified Redhead by Alice Clayton / Contemporary Romance / A laugh-out-loud, hilarious read with lots of smut. Perfect blend of sizzling romance and hilarious, flirtatious banter.

2. Matched by Ally Condie / Young Adult, Dystopian / The attention to detail crafted by the author is amazing. Every last detail was thought out meticulously and executed well.

3. Broken by Shiloh Walker / Romantic Suspense / My first read from this author. This book open the door to romantic suspense for me. The love scenes are hot and you'll be begging for more.

4. Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schoeder / Young Adult / I didn't think I would be able to read a book written in verse but this author has a way with words! She encompasses a unique way of lyrically telling a story so that the story just flows fluidly and never misses a beat.

5. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher / Young Adult / I truly feel that this book should be required reading for high school students and maybe even junior high students. It's definitely a thought-provoking read that will make you think twice about your actions and how they can affect others.

Favorite Series of 2010:
The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I had no intentions on reading this series for the simple fact that I'm not into reading about faeries. But once I started, I couldn't stop. And now I'm anxiously awaiting book 5, the final book, to come out.

Favorite Book Cover for 2010:Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce - the way the sisters and the wolf are blended in together is just beautiful.

  1. @Chelsea - I just added Stacia Kane's series to my TBR list! I've heard great things about Terrible :) I've also heard great things about The Iron Duke so that one's on my TBR list too. Crimson Moon was a good read! I need to read the Vampire Academy series. Great list!!

@Larissa - I recently add the Alien series to my TBR list. I don't do sci-fi but those book covers caught my attention and everyone who's read this series loves it. Can you believe I still need to read Lover Mine? Fever series was my favorite series too :)

@Kelly - I've been wanting to read The Body Finder. It's on my to read list for 2011.

Thanks for inviting me to participate :)

  2. @Chelsea - I so need to read The Iron Duke and Downside Ghosts. Each time they get a mention somewhere right now I'm like 'must read asap!'

@Larissa - hurrah for Silver Borne and Magic Bleeds!! 2 of my favourites as well. And the Fever series was also my series pick.

@The Book Vixen - Matched = hell yes! And obviously I agree with Fever series as well. I took my sweet time not reading it for the same reason, I'm not a big faeries person. That said, that seems to be changing lately, they're no longer the turn off they once were, I'm just cautious.

@Kelly - I loved The Iron King and The Body Finder as well. Not sure I've class them as favourites of the year, but certainly great reads. Soul Screamers is my very, very close runner up fave series of the year though, so that one I'm all for ;)

Loving these guest posts btw Heidi! Thanks for letting me be a part of it! :)

My favorite book this year was probably Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead. The ending of the Vampire Academy series, it was definitely a big bang, as I expected, though I wish it were full of more surprises.
